I will be starting my twenty-seventh year as a middle school counselor in September 2018 and in March 2019, I will have been at York Middle School for 25 years! I graduated from the University of NH in 1983 with a BA degree in Psychology. I returned to UNH to pursue my Masters degree in Counseling, graduating in 1991. I worked as a middle school counselor at Newmarket Junior-Senior High School in Newmarket, NH from September 1991 - March 1994. I’ve been working as a school counselor at York Middle School since March 1994.
Being a middle school counselor is one of the most rewarding, exciting, exhausting, exhilarating, unpredictable and valuable jobs in the world! I find it a privilege and a joy to be able to work with children between the ages of ten to fourteen and to support their parents during this often turbulent time period.
Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I love kayaking, riding my mountain bike, cross country skiing. I enjoy traveling to see our Nation’s beautiful National Parks. I’ve also been to many different countries (look for my magnet collection when you visit my office). I have fun taking pictures wherever I go and then even more fun making photo albums.
I love living by the ocean and one of the funnest summer jobs I've had was working as a tour guide for Finestkind Scenic Cruises out of Perkins Cove in Ogunquit, Maine. The Finestkind offers several different boat tours, one to the Nubble Lighthouse in York; another to see the seals on the rocks in Moody, Maine; another lets you interact with a Maine Lobsterman while he haul his traps; and yet another allows to you enjoy the coast on a cocktail cruise.
